@article{DaSilva2025, abstract = {The development of a region is a process that challenges public managers independent of the political spectrum it is inserted in. The true development needs to be reflected in the population with the logical consequence of improving their social indicators. The use of decision support tools aims to provide a better visualization of which paths each decision maker must follow to achieve their goals, and in the present study we sought to achieve this focus by applying the PROMETHEE II multi-criteria method to analyze and ponder the economic variables that most impact the development process of the states of northeastern Brazil, together with the elaboration of a composite indicator. This correlation of themes is not found in depth in the regional scientific literature. However, at the end, the study provides an important visualization for measuring the criteria that most impact the reality of each state, mainly because the application of the analysis was carried out in a region that is historically known for its economic difficulties but which has unique strengths and opportunities in the national territory.}, author = {da Silva, Miguel Gustavo Gomes}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.29327/2565368.3.1-8}, journal = {Socioeconomic Analytics}, keywords = {Development,Multicriteria Analysis,Northeast,PROMETHEE}, number = {1}, pages = {149--174}, title = {{A Multi-Criteria Composite Index for Evaluating Economic Development}}, url = {https://doi.org/10.29327/2565368.3.1-8}, volume = {3}, year = {2025} }
