Survival Analysis for Assessing Aspects Influential on Unemployment Time

Unemployment is a central issue for the labor market and public policy. This study analyzed the behavior of individuals in this situation, using survival analysis to estimate the time until the first formal job. The results showed that individuals who participated in unemployment insurance programs increased the likelihood of remaining unemployed for longer. Age also plays a role, particularly among those aged 50 to 61, while the 30 to 39 age group showed no significant effect. The conclusion is that unemployment results from the interaction between individual characteristics and economic factors, including access to social support programs.
