Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and it is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the editor"
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format
  • DOI URLs for references were provided when possible
  • The text follows the template and style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors on the About the Journal page
  • ORCID profile identification on all authors was provided in case of submissions to peer-reviewed sections

We welcome submissions of original research articles, review paperssystematic literature reviewsmeta-analysesessaysshort communicationsreproductions and replications of analyses and applied experiments (independent evidence for or against the conclusions of a published paper), case studies and practical software exercises (containing step-by-step procedures, frameworks, codes and algorithms to generate the results) that align with the mission and scope of Socioeconomic Analytics. Before submitting your manuscript, please carefully review and follow the instructions below:

Manuscript Preparation: Manuscripts should be prepared according to the formatting style instructions for the journal (e.g., font, font size, line spacing, headings and subheadings, references, figures and tables). Please ensure that your manuscript is written in clear and concise English and is free of grammatical and spelling errors and typos.

Manuscript Type: Please indicate the manuscript type (e.g., original research article, review paper, short communication or case study) in the cover letter.

Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authorship: All authors should have made substantial contributions to the research and writing of the manuscript and should approve the final version of the manuscript for submission. Authors cannot be modified (inclusion or exclusion) after approval of the article for publication. Authors must certify that this procedure was duly completed during submission.

Language: The journal accepts submissions in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. After peer review, the manuscript is sent for translation (at no expense to authors) and published in English.

Conflict of Interest: Authors should disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may have influenced the research or writing of the manuscript.

Ethical Standards: All research involving human or animal subjects should follow appropriate ethical standards, and authors should include a statement of compliance in the manuscript.

Article Processing Charges (APC): There is no cost for authors. The journal does not charge APC or submission, evaluation, or publication fees. 

Submission Process: Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's online submission system using the Open Journal Systems (OJS). Please create an account if you do not already have one, and follow the instructions for submitting your manuscript.

Cover Letter (Optional): Please include a cover letter that provides a brief overview of the research question(s), methods, results, and implications of the manuscript. Please also include a statement indicating that the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

Peer Review: All submissions will undergo a peer-review process, and authors will be notified of the decision within a reasonable time frame. Please note that revisions may be required before a final decision is made.

The following formatting style instructions should be followed by all authors submitting manuscripts to Socioeconomic Analytics. You can find an example template HERE.

Font: Times New Roman. Font Size: 12.

Layout: Choose A4 format for output on the custom paper size (21 cm * 29.7 cm).

Line Spacing: Single-line spacing throughout the manuscript, including the abstract, text, references, and footnotes. 

Margins: 1-inch margins on all sides of the page.

Page Numbering: All pages should be numbered sequentially, starting with the title page (following the template example).

Title Page: The title page (first page of the manuscript) should include the manuscript title, the author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and email address(es). Please indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk.

Abstract: The abstract should be concise (maximum 250 words) and provide a brief summary of the research question(s), methods, results, and implications.

Keywords: Please provide a list of up to tenkeywords that best represent the manuscript's content.

Headings and Subheadings: Please use a clear and consistent heading hierarchy with no more than three levels of headings. Use font size 14 for headings and subheadings in bold and italics to distinguish between the different levels.

Figures and Tables: All figures and tables should be numbered sequentially and referenced in the text. Please ensure that all figures and tables are of high quality and can be easily read.

Equations: Equations must be presented between parentheses with alignment to the right and sequentially in the body of the text.

References:  All references should follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style. Please ensure that all references are cited in the text and that the reference list is complete and accurate.

Footnotes: Footnotes should be used sparingly and kept to a minimum. If used, please ensure that they are numbered sequentially and referenced in the text.

By submitting a manuscript to Socioeconomic Analytics, authors certify that they have read and agree to the authorship criteria and have fulfilled the requirements for authorship as outlined above. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to be listed as co-authors. We appreciate your adherence to these authorship guidelines, as they are important for maintaining integrity and transparency in research and publishing.
