Estrutura Espacial e Biomassa da Parte Aérea em Diferentes Estádios Sucessionais de Caatinga, Santa Terezinha- PB (Spatial Structure and Aboveground Biomass in Different Caatinga Succession Stages, in Santa Terezinha, Paraiba)

A fitossociologia auxilia a compreensão dos processos ecológicos nos ecossistemas naturais, descrevendo composição, estrutura, distribuição e dinâmica das espécies vegetais nas comunidades. A fitossociologia de comunidades vegetais de caatinga em três estádios de sucessão (inicial, intermediário e tardio), na Fazenda Tamanduá, município de Santa Terezinha, Paraíba, foi estudada estabelecendo-se 15 parcelas de 50m x 20m, em cada estádio. Foram amostrados 343 indivíduos de 6 espécies e 3 famílias no estádio inicial; 545 indivíduos de 15 espécies e 10 famílias no intermediário; e 700 indivíduos de 21 espécies e 12 famílias no estádio tardio. Fabaceae predominou nos três estádios em quantidade de indivíduos. Mimosa tenuiflora foi o táxon dominante no estádio inicial; Poincianella pyramidalis, Croton blanchetianus e M. tenuiflora no intermediário; e P. pyramidalis e Commiphora leptophloeos no estádio tardio. Portanto, o processo de sucessão é lento e a vegetação com cerca de 40 anos em processo de regeneração ainda reflete o elevado grau de perturbação anterior. Mesmo no estádio tardio com uma caatinga preservada há mais de 60 anos, a biomassa da parte aérea foi relativamente baixa (49,47 Mg ha-1) e a maior parte pertencia a poucas espécies, indicando forte competição pelo recurso mais limitante, a água.Downloads
