Application Of Cross-Wavelet Transform To Climate Indicators: Precipitation And Outgoing Long Wave Radiation In The Northeast Region Of Brazil

O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a covariância entre precipitação (PRP) e Radiação de Onda Longa Emergente (OLR) em diferentes escalas de tempo-frequência, utilizando a técnica da Transformada Wavelet Cruzada (XWT) em regiões homogêneas de precipitação no Nordeste do Brasil (NEB). A região apresenta alta variabilidade espacial e temporal de precipitação, influenciada pela extensão territorial e posição geográfica. A região foi subdividida em sete regiões homogêneas de precipitação (RHs) para o período de 1985-2018. Para cada RH, a XWT foi aplicada às séries temporais de PRP e OLR. O método XWT é uma técnica robusta e eficaz, pois revela as áreas de potência comum dos indicadores climáticos, fornecendo informações sobre a fase relativa entre eles. Os resultados mostraram diferentes ângulos de fase entre as duas variáveis. Em algumas RHs, as séries temporais estavam completamente em anti-fase (movimento para oeste), enquanto em outras havia mais de um padrão de diferença de fase ao longo do período analisado. Em termos gerais, a escala anual prevaleceu em todas as RHs. Embora PRP e OLR estivessem em anti-fase na maioria das RHs, a OLR não pode ser identificada como o único indicador para explicar o volume de precipitação no NEB. Assim, fatores como altura e espessura das nuvens, fatores locais como orografia, continentalidade, sazonalidade, proximidade ao Oceano Atlântico e à floresta amazônica, especialmente na porção oeste do NEB, devem ser considerados na análise dos padrões de precipitação nesta região.
