Sustainable Tourism and Tropical Estuaries: Assessment of Vaza Barris River Quality and the Viability of Fishing and Consumption of the Mangrove Root Crab (Goniopsis cruentata) as a Tourism Attraction on Mem de Sá Island (Itaporanga D’Ajuda, Brazil)

Resumo

O presente estudo avaliou a qualidade ambiental do estuário do Rio Vaza Barris na Ilha Mem de Sá (Itaporanga D’ajuda/SE), com foco na viabilidade do Turismo Sustentável e da Pesca Artesanal do Aratu (Goniopsis cruentata). A pesquisa insere-se no contexto de estuários tropicais sob forte pressão antrópica e vulnerabilidade. A análise da qualidade da água revelou um comprometimento significativo, com metais como Ferro (Fe), Zinco (Zn) e Cobre (Cu) excedendo os limites da CONAMA 357/2005, principalmente no período chuvoso, e contaminação microbiológica elevada. Essa dinâmica sugere um forte aporte de poluentes por escoamento superficial e falta de saneamento. Entretanto, a análise ecotoxicológica dos sedimentos indicou um risco de baixo a moderado (mPEL-Q entre 0,110 e 0,141) para a biota bentônica. Crucialmente, a carne do Aratu, que é um recurso extrativista local, apresentou excelente qualidade microbiológica, estando totalmente em conformidade com os padrões de segurança da IN nº 161/2022 do Ministério da Saúde. Os metais altamente tóxicos não essenciais, como Chumbo (Pb) e Cádmio (Cd), não foram detectados. Conclui-se que, apesar da vulnerabilidade do estuário, o processo tradicional de beneficiamento do Aratu garante um produto seguro para o consumo. O trabalho sugere que a gestão integrada e o controle das fontes de poluição são essenciais para salvaguardar o ecossistema, permitindo a valorização do potencial turístico de base comunitária.
