OS VALORES PATRIMONIAIS COMO INSTRUMENTO PARA A CONSERVAÇÃO DA PAISAGEM DE VILA VELHA, ITAMARACÁ (PE)

Abstract

O povoado de Vila Velha, localizado na Ilha de Itamaracá, em Pernambuco, reflete a intrínseca relação entre a natureza e a história desse local a partir de sua paisagem, formada pela integração de atributos culturais e naturais. São diversos os atores que se inter-relacionam com essa paisagem, sobretudo moradores, visitantes e estudiosos ou especialistas, os quais lhe atribuem distintos valores, conferindo-lhe significância patrimonial. No entanto, os processos de proteção oficiais institucionalizados pelos órgãos de preservação, não estabelece esta relação, que é indissociável, separando os âmbitos de proteção, naturais e culturais, nas políticas e nas ações de conservação. Os valores patrimoniais constituem-se como importante instrumento de verificação e avaliação do bem, podendo atestar em que medida a comunidade reconhece ou está comprometida com patrimônio avaliado. Objetiva-se, portanto, com este artigo, identificar os valores patrimoniais da paisagem de Vila Velha atribuídos pela comunidade local. Como metodologia, foi proposto um recorte territorial, a ausculta dos três grupos sociais acima mencionados e a interpretação de suas falas mediante análise de conteúdo. Entende-se que, com a identificação dos valores patrimoniais captados dessa análise, é possível sinalizar a base sobre a qual deve-se debruçar o reconhecimento do bem e os meios para a conservação da paisagem de Vila Velha como patrimônio.

Heritage values as an instrument for the conservation of the landscape of Vila Velha, Itamaracá (PE)

The town of Vila Velha, located on the Island of Itamaracá in Pernambuco, reflects the intrinsic relationship between nature and history of this place from its landscape, formed by the integration of cultural and natural attributes. There are several actors who interact with this landscape, especially residents, visitors, and scholars or specialists, who attribute different values to it, giving it heritage significance. However, the official protection processes institutionalized by preservation agencies do not establish this relationship, which is inseparable, separating the natural and cultural protection areas in conservation policies and actions. Heritage values constitute an important instrument for verifying and evaluating the asset, and can attest to the extent to which the community recognizes or is committed to the assessed heritage. The objective of this article, therefore, is to identify the heritage values of the Vila Velha landscape attributed by the local community. As a methodology, a territorial cut was proposed, the auscultation of the three aforementioned social groups, and the interpretation of their speeches through content analysis. It is understood that, with the identification of heritage values captured from this analysis, it is possible to indicate the basis on which the recognition of the asset should be focused and the means for the conservation of the Vila Velha landscape as heritage.
