Abstract

This study examines the main practices and attributes of accounting professors who have success in classroom from the students´ point of view in public and private universities in Curitiba (PR) and Joinville (SC). The theoretical support of this academic work is based on the Two-Dimensional Method of Teaching Effectiveness that involves Lowman´s intellectual and interpersonal relationship stimulation (2007). Primary data were obtained through questionnaires applied in September and October of 2010 with 234 students enrolled in the last semester of Accounting in UFPR, PUC/PR, FACINTER, FAESP and OPET. The findings indicate the domain of content, clarity in showing the information and capacity of stimulating interest in the reasons for classroom professors´perfomance. According to the Intellectual Incentive Dimension the adjectives that define a good professor are: prepared, understandable and organized. The results are convergent to researchs made by Gomes et. al. (2009) and Celerino and Pereira (2008).
