Linguística, Tradução e Estudos Culturais
Resumo
Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a contribuição da Linguística para os Estudos da Tradução no contexto atual de trabalho teórico e prático. Tendo os Estudos da Tradução caráter multidisciplinar, será discutida a importância da Linguística, após a virada cultural dos anos 80 e no Século XXI, seguindo a visão de Baker (1999), Fawcett (1997), Nord (1997) e Chesterman (2000). Serão apresentadas duas atividades de tradução no intuito de mostrar como o conhecimento da Línguística e de Estratégias de Tradução contribuem para uma melhor produção tradutória e para uma maior competência linguística do aluno, tanto na área de Línguas Estrangeiras como de Tradução.

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to present the contribution of Linguistics to Translation Studies in the present theoretical and practical context. Regarding the fact that Translation Studies are a multidiscipline, the importance of Linguistics after the cultural turn in the 1980s and the XXI Century will be discussed, according to Baker (1999), Fawcett (1997), Nord (1997) and Chesterman (1997). Two translation activities will be presented in order to show how the knowledge about Linguistics and Translation Strategies contributes to a better translation production as well as to a higher linguistic competence of students both in Foreign Languages as well as in the Translation Area.
