Uma Análise dos Indicadores Sociais em Pernambuco
Keywords:

The study investigates how different social, economic, and educational indicators are related in the municipalities of Pernambuco, using multiple linear regression models. The variables analyzed include the Basic Education Development Index (IDEB), the Municipal Human Development Index for Education (IDHM-E), per capita GDP, violent crime rates, and life expectancy. The results showed that the IDHM-E plays a central role in these interactions, functioning both as an explanatory and as a response variable. In particular, its strong positive influence on per capita GDP (R² = 0.948) stood out, along with significant associations with life expectancy and IDEB. On the other hand, the models aimed at explaining violent crime rates showed low explanatory power, highlighting the complexity of this phenomenon. The conclusions reinforce the importance of public policies focused on basic education as a driver of social and economic transformation, while addressing urban violence requires broader and more integrated strategies.
