Aplicação do teste de Scott-Knott na avaliação de genótipos da série RB15 de cana-de-açúcar em Alagoas

Resumen

The use of robust statistical methods is essential to distinguish genotypes in sugarcane breeding programs. This study evaluated 17 genotypes from the RB15 series and the commercial standard RB92579 in a trial conducted by RIDESA/UFAL at Usina Coruripe, Fazenda Lagoa do Terêncio (Alagoas, Brazil), during the 2020/21 harvest. The variables analyzed were recoverable total sugars (ATR, kg t-1), tons of cane per hectare (TCH), and tons of ATR per hectare (TATRH). Means were compared using the Scott-Knott test (p ≤ 0.05), which grouped the genotypes into homogeneous clusters. Significant variation was observed, with RB15603, RB15610, RB15743, RB15745, and RB15746 standing out in at least one variable. The standard RB92579 showed lower performance in TATRH, confirming the potential of the RB15 series for varietal recommendations and highlighting the practicality of the Scott-Knott test as a tool to support selection decisions in sugarcane breeding.
