Com o domínio do Japão pela classe militar no século XII, uma nova era da história japonesa teve início. Os guerreiros que a representaram, chamados samurai, não apenas tiraram das mãos da nobreza o controle do governo. Mas acabaram por modificar a própria cultura do país, criando inclusive uma arte que colocava em evidência seu espírito combativo. As ações e conduta desses homens moldaram o pensamento do arquipélago de tal forma que seu espírito firme e reto ainda pode ser percebido claramente na sociedade japonesa. Foram eles também os responsáveis pela unificação do Japão e durante seu domínio, no ano de 1549, os Jesuítas aportaram em terras nipônicas pela primeira vez.

Abstract
With the military class taking over Japan’s rule during the XII century, a new era of the Japanese history began. The warriors that represented it, called samurai, not only took over the government from the noble class’ hands. But ended up also modifying the country’s culture by even creating an art that would emphasize their fighting spirit. These men’s actions and way of living molded the archipelago’s mind in such a way that their firm and straightforward spirit can still be clearly seen in the Japanese society. They were also responsible for Japan’s unification and it was during their rule, in 1549, that the Jesuits arrived in Japanese lands for the first time.
