Este artigo pretende contribuir com a apresentação de nossas experiências de pesquisa nos arquivos do TRT da 6ª região, a partir do registro histórico do andamento processual das ações trabalhistas impetradas durante a década de 1950. Trazendo algumas reflexões sobre os motivos da instauração da Justiça do Trabalho no Brasil, as condições políticas e sociais específicas da cidade do Recife no sistema populista, além de algumas considerações e idéias acerca da constituição da classe trabalhadora da cidade, passando pela apresentação dos problemas gerais na instituição da Justiça, demonstrando-os a partir de alguns exemplos de ações trabalhistas impetradas à época.

Abstract
This article contributes to the presentation of our research experiences with the files of the Regional Labor Tribunal of the 6th Region, addressing the procedural progress of labor claims made during the 1950’s. The article reflects on the rationale underlying the establishment of the Labor Judiciary in Brazil while exploring the specific political and social conditions of the city of Recife during the populist period and discussing the constitution of the working class in the city, before moving on to a presentation of general problems with the institution of the Judiciary, demonstrated through some examples of labor claims made at the time.
