Abstract

A Área Arqueológica do Seridó, localizada na Microrregião do Seridó Oriental-RN apresenta, em seu entorno, uma grande quantidade de sítios arqueológicos pré-históricos e é particularmente conhecida pela concentração de abrigos contendo pinturas rupestres da Tradição Nordeste. O Sítio Arqueológico Pedra do Alexandre, localizado no Vale do rio Carnaúba, é atualmente o único a dispor de uma sequência cronológica para a ocupação pré-histórica na Área Arqueológica do Seridó.
