Abstract

The Alto MoxotóTerrane corresponds to a crustal block thatbestpreserves theArchean and Paleoproterozoic in the central Borborema Province, Northeastern Brazil. Metatexites and diatexites make up a considerable portion of the terrane basement, however they lack ogeochronological data. The Sucuru Anatexite occurs in the central portion of this Terrane and was previously described in the literature as relics of an unusual Siderian magmatism (ca. 2.44 Ga). In this paper, we revised geochronological data published from an alkali-feldspathic neossome sample and presented interpretations of four groups of zircon crystals with distinct morphologic and isotopic characteristics. The first group consists of euhedral to subhedral crystals with inherited coresfrom previous grains, displaying the oldest ages described with ca. 2.6 Ga. Such age corresponds to Archean nuclei recently described punctually in this Terrane. On the other hand, groups 2 and 3 present similar characteristics, although different in size, axial relationships, and geochronological responses, providing discordant ages around 2.5 to 2.4 Ga, respectively. Such ages are interpreted as local processes of partial melting, which does notcompose a meaningful tectonic event. At last, the fourth group is composed of elliptic, ovoid, or rounded zircon crystals with the absence of oscillatory zoning and Th/U ratioscorrelated with metamorphism. Such crystals display ages around 2.0 Ga, consistent with a metamorphic peak recently described to the end of Rhyacian-Orosirian orogeny that makes up Transversal Subprovince basement.
