The Dark Side of the Moon: explicando o welfare state da América Central durante o boom das commodities

O presente artigo examina se condições políticas e econômicas constituíram causação conjuntural para a expansão
de políticas sociais, na América Central, durante o Boom de Commodities (2003-2013). A alta cotação de preços de
matérias primas é, por vezes, apontada como um dos fatores que viabilizou o acentuado crescimento do Welfare State
na América Latina como um todo. Contudo, a sub-região da América Central não se beneficiou diretamente deste
contexto, motivando um estudo a seu respeito. Para explicar avanços no Welfare State centro-americano, a presente
pesquisa emprega Fuzzy Qualitative Comparative Analysis ( fs/QCA) como instrumento metodológico. As evidências sugerem que governo de esquerda e expansão tributária constituem causação conjuntural para a adoção de programas de inclusão no mercado de trabalho. Por outro lado, o desenho de pesquisa não consegue explicar a adoção de
programas de transferência de renda.
