A questão centro/periferia no contexto europeu: analisando a República Tcheca

Based on the debate on the center/periphery issue, this article aimed to analyze the insertion of the Czech Republic in international geopolitics, highlighting the dynamics and the power relations of the country with the world. The aim of the article was to complexify the concepts of center/periphery and the global North and South when dealing with a European country, belonging to the European Union, but that still does not constitute a hegemonic center of power. It was observed that during almost the entire 20th century, the Czech Republic had its territory invaded and subjected to other nations; it became politically and economically dependent on other governments, its culture and history oppressed and reformed, and its tradition alienated. These historical facts lead to the economic and political disparity that the country experiences in relation to the central countries -even though it has reached a path of expressive development, mostly, since the 21st century.References
