Abstract

The Digital Era emerges with technologies capable of causing disruptions in social relations and in internal and external institutions. In fact, in view of the relevance of  the  factor  of  Industry  4.0  and  the  Chinese  leap  as a  superpower on  the  international board, the objective is to observe how this technological decoupling is configured in the current scenario of intense competition between great powers. To this end, the authors suggest a review of the recent International Relations literature on thetopic, as well as descriptive  statistics to illustrate the rise of China's  power in different  institutional sectors.  In  addition,  the  development of this work is organized as follows: a brief introduction; the literature review; the  results, by means of which we illustrate some charts that dialogue with the literature  about  the overwhelming Chinese growth in the last twenty years (2001 -2021), both in the economic and military branches. And, finally, our  final  remarks, when we summarize the main points that  indicate  weakness in international relations and suggestions for future research on the topic.
