Abstract

This work aims to present Filomeno Lopes’ thought by emphasizing its originality and newness within today’s African philosophical debate. Throughout the African continent the PALOP countries play a marginal role compared to the Anglophone and Francophone colonization countries due to various difficulties of a political and communicative nature. In such a context, Lopes’ literary and musical work is significant since it constitutes a possible way to follow towards the resolution of the problems of these countries and the construction of a culture of world peace. The first part of the article introduces the obstacles to PALOP’s development providing an overview of the current situation and the context within which Lopes dialogues. The second part presents possible ways of resolving these problems starting from the author’s suggestions. The article concludes by highlighting the versatility of Lopes who manages to bring dissemination and musical activities together, making them converge towards a common purpose: the creation of a future symphonic and intercultural community.
