A universidade antes da revolução científica e técnica

Abstract

The author develops a reflection on the negative impacts of the scientific and technical revolution on Latin America in the 1970s, which continues to be of great interest in explaining the context of the periphery, today. For him, such a revolution has created a technological gap that separates the communities of the advanced countries from the others. Keeping the differences, he explains, Latin American countries are in the same situation as the primitive communities were, that is, in the passive contemplation of the foreign technique, imitating it. They show little capacity to  create  and  understand  the  social,  economic  and  political  processes  that  the  adoption  of  this technique implies. Of course, they continue to be subject to externaltechnological, cultural and financial domination in an unavoidable way, at least until this technological gap starts to be really overcome.
