Novas Mídias e o Sagrado: mudança ritual no louvor pentecostal

Moments of praise are the privileged locus for understanding ritual change. In the services of some Assembly of God Churches in Tole-do and Cascavel, Paraná these ritual intervals are time-space for the ‘Holy Spirit to flow’ through emotional songs, movement of bodies and sacred objects. From the bibliographic debate driven by the concept of sensorial forms and rituals, I follow the coexistence and transitions between hymns and choirs, hymnals and screens. My goal is to reflect on the ritual change by problematizing the insertion of new media as components of the cult. As I intend to discuss, these processes are expressed through the creation of aesthetic contexts that involve bodily, technological supports and cosmo-logical, ritual and hierarchical elements.
