FENOLOGIA E DINÂMICA DE DUAS POPULAÇÕES HERBÁCEAS DA CAATINGA
Abstract
A influência da sazonalidade climática na dinâmica e na floração de duas populações herbáceas (Gomphrena vaga e Dorstenia asaroides) foi investigada durante 22 meses, em uma área de floresta seca, do tipo caatinga, em Caruaru, PE, Brasil, visando determinar diferenças nas taxas de nascimentos, mortalidade e número de indivíduos floridos ao longo das estações climáticas. Todas as plantas das duas espécies foram marcadas em 105 parcelas de 1m2, e, mensalmente, foram anotadas as nascidas, as mortas e as floridas. As taxas de natalidade das duas populações ocorreram concentradas no período chuvoso. Taxas de mortalidades foram mais elevadas na estação seca. G. vaga é uma terófita, que apresentou plasticidade na população, com indivíduos que conseguiram sobreviver na seca, mas que não se reproduziram mais na estação chuvosa subseqüente, morrendo no início da mesma. D. asaroides é uma geófita que apresentou baixo percentual de floração na estação chuvosa. O modelo de dinâmica de G. vaga foi mais dependente da sazonalidade climática que o de D. asaroides. Entre os microhabitats, picos de floração e de natalidade não ocorreram nos mesmos meses do ano. O estudo mostra que na vegetação da caatinga, as variações espaciais nas condições dos microhabitats associadas a variações interanuais nos totais pluviométricos podem deslocar, no tempo, o período de oferta do recurso floral e o período de recrutamento das plantas herbáceas. Também mostra que estudos de curta série temporal podem não ser suficientes para descrever a plasticidade existente nas populações e inferir sobre a distribuição geográfica de algumas herbáceas da caatinga.Downloads
