SAÚDE PÚBLICA E MEIO AMBIENTE: O PROGRAMA DE SAÚDE DA FAMÍLIA COMO ESTRATÉGIA PARA A REORIENTAÇÃO DO MODELO DE ATENÇÃO À SAÚDE
Abstract
A relação existente entre as condições do território e os níveis de saúde da população há muito vem sendo estudada. A origem ambiental das doenças é bem conhecida e essa relação foi sendo desvendada pelas experiências científicas que mostram como o ambiente natural, as condições de moradia, de higiene e salubridade, afetam a saúde, provocando a morte ou, prolongando a vida. Diante disto, este artigo objetiva analisar a contribuição do Agente Comunitário de Saúde (ACS), integrante do Programa de Saúde da Família (PSF), na conscientização da população no que diz respeito aos cuidados com o ambiente e suas implicações nos níveis de saúde. Por meio do estudo dos dados levantados foi constatado que o setor de saúde tem conseguido atingir muitas de suas metas, porém, devido às condições do território em que estas comunidades estão inseridas, não está havendo um avanço mais significativo no sentido de melhorias das condições de saúde. A investigação do processo saúde-doença nas populações é complexa, envolvendo uma série de variáveis, o que dificulta a apreensão da realidade. A tendência das condições de saúde, em qualquer população, é fortemente influenciada pela evolução das condições ambientais, em particular, no que se refere à adequação das moradias e ao saneamento do meio.
