CPT's territorial praxis in cariri cearense: an analysis of the socio-territorial movements of those affected by dams

The aim of this paper is to discuss the social conflicts surrounding the implementation of dams in the Cariri region of Ceará between the 1990s and 2000s and to understand the territorial actions of the Pastoral Land Commission (CPT) as a process of resistance with the affected communities. In this context, we will discuss two main dam projects that were developed in the region and caused the displacement of dozens of families: the Cachoeira dam, in the municipality of Aurora, where the process took place between 1998 and 2000, and the Rosário dam, located in the district of Quitaiús, in the municipality of Lavras da Mangabeira, where the construction process began in 2000 and ended in 2001.
