MAPEAMENTO E QUANTIFICAÇÃO DAS FÁCIES TEXTURAIS NOS ESTUÁRIOS DA REGIÃO INTERNA DE SUAPE - PE

Abstract

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo principal quantificar e mapear as fácies sedimentares existentes no fundo dos estuários (Massangana, Tatuoca, Riachos Ilha da Cana e Algodoais, Canal Retificado e Baía de Suape) próximos ao Porto de Suape, no Estado de Pernambuco. O percentual de ocorrência das diversas fácies texturais foram obtidos automaticamente através do uso de um software específico que estimou a área de distribuição de cada classe textural mapeada. Deste total foi observada a predominância da fácies areia com aproximadamente 66% da área de estudo. Já a fácies lamosa representou apenas 15% do total. Esses resultados nos indicam a presença de elevados índices energéticos (correntes) atuantes na maior parte da região estuarina estudada, que favorecem a deposição de grãos arenosos. Os dados obtidos podem auxiliar na identificação de áreas mais susceptíveis a concentração de metais pesados e outros contaminantes químicos que normalmente estão relacionados com sedimentos lamosos. Estes contaminantes podem ser liberados para os sedimentos em conseqüência do crescimento de atividades industriais na área do porto de Suape.
