RETIFICAÇÃO DOS CANAIS FLUVIAIS E MUDANÇAS GEOMORFOLÓGICAS NA PLANÍCIE DO RIO MACAÉ (RJ)
Abstract
No contexto de bacias hidrográficas, o processo de retificação dos canais fluviais nas áreas de planícies tem sido alvo de análise para compreender suas interferências e implicações na evolução da rede de drenagem. Entre as décadas de 1940 e 1980, o extinto Departamento Nacional de Obras e Saneamento (DNOS) realizou obras de retificação dos canais fluviais em várias bacias hidrográficas do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, visando a evitar inúmeros problemas ambientais. Dentro deste contexto, a Bacia do Rio Macaé teve cerca de 60 km do canal principal, além de trechos de afluentes retificados. O objetivo do trabalho é apresentar discussão da interferência dessa obra na evolução da bacia, apontando as mudanças ocorridas na morfologia dos canais fluviais, nos períodos anteriores e posteriores às obras de retificação. Os mapeamentos temporais na forma em planta dos canais e nas feições geomorfológicas indicam mudanças significativas e isso pode ser observado através dos ajustes aos quais os canais fluviais são submetidos, redirecionando ou potencializando áreas de erosão e sedimentação em escalas não compatíveis com a dinâmica atual do rio.
