O CULTIVO DO ARROZ ECOLÓGICO E O SURGIMENTO DE NOVOS TERRITÓRIOS RURAIS NO ASSENTAMENTO MADRE TERRA, SÃO GABRIEL/RS
Abstract
O artigo trata do desenvolvimento da produção do arroz ecológico no assentamento Madre Terra, localizado no município de São Gabriel/RS. Produzir com base na agroecologia muda a forma produtiva, pois constrói outra realidade agrícola, sendo esta sustentável, além de valorizar os aspectos sociais, econômicos e ambientais. Essa forma de produção garante maior autonomia produtiva aos assentados, pois eles não dependem dos pacotes tecnológicos das grandes empresas. Esse processo gera transformações na vida dos agricultores assentados e interfere no processo de territorialização. O arroz ecológico tem maior qualidade do que o arroz convencional, ele garante renda elevada para os assentados e sua permanência na atividade agrícola. Mesmo esta produção ser recente, houve um aumento significativo da área plantada e do número de famílias envolvidas neste sistema produtivo.Published
