Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being considered for publication by another journal; otherwise, this must be justified in "Comments to the Editor".
  • The data that gave rise to the research have been published in repositories and/or data journals.
  • Included ORCID ID number in metadata when registering.
  • The text is 1.5 spaced; uses 12-point Times New Roman font; figures and tables are inserted throughout the text in the place where they should be in the work.
  • The abstract does not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be written in Portuguese, English, and a third language (French or Spanish).
  • The text follows the style guidelines and bibliographic requirements described in the Author Guidelines, on the About the Journal page.
  • In the case of submission to a section with peer review (e.g., articles), the instructions available in Ensuring Blind Peer Review have been followed.
  • The metadata was entered in accordance with the submission guidelines - Author Guidelines.

FORMAT AND PREPARATION OF ARTICLES

General Aspects

Manuscript submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and must be submitted using the Journal's TEMPLATE. Publication, exclusively online, is quarterly (January-April, May-August, September-December) and depends on adherence to editorial guidelines and the opinions of the editorial board or ad hoc reviewers. The journal guarantees the anonymity of authors and reviewers during the editorial evaluation.

The content of the published texts is the sole responsibility of the authors.

Manuscripts must have a maximum of 3 (three) authors. The editorial board may accept up to 5 authors, provided that a letter detailing the contribution of each co-author to the manuscript is submitted.

Works that use human subjects as objects of study must indicate in the manuscript text the project approval number from the Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee's approval opinion must be submitted as a supplementary document when submitting the manuscript to the system.

The authors are responsible for the grammatical revision of the text. If significant problems are identified, the author(s) must arrange for spelling revision by a qualified professional and bear the associated costs. The editorial board may recommend qualified and trusted professionals of the journal.

For articles submitted in languages ​​other than Portuguese, the authors must attach a reviewer's statement attesting to the revision of the manuscript as supplementary documents.

Editorial Workflow

How does the workflow occur?

The submission will be archived (rejected) for non-compliance with the guidelines below:

Name (full name of all authors): initial capital letter and the remaining letters lowercase; no emphasis (bold, italics, underline); No punctuation at the end. Ex.: Maria da Silva (Important: correct completion of first and last name)

Institution/Affiliation (e.g., graduate program or department and name of current affiliated institution): initial capital letter and the rest lowercase; no emphasis (bold, italics, underline); acronyms with full meaning. Ex.: Department of Geographic Sciences, Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Recife, PE, Brazil.

Other examples:

Guidelines for affiliation indications in OJS and PDF (UFPE Periodicals Portal)

Country: initial capital letter and the rest lowercase; Title: only the first letter capitalized and the rest lowercase, unless the title includes a proper noun, in which case the initial letter remains capitalized; when there is a subtitle, use a colon to separate it from the title; no final punctuation.

Biography Summary: initial letter capitalized and the rest lowercase; acronyms with full meaning; brief and clear text. Indicate last education/degree, position, if applicable, followed by email.

Abstract: initial letter capitalized and the rest lowercase; with a period.

Area and sub-area of ​​Knowledge: initial letter capitalized; separated by a semicolon; no final punctuation.

Keywords: initial letter capitalized; separated by a semicolon; No final punctuation

ATTENTION: When the article language is Portuguese, please select Edit metadata > Form language (second language, preferably English) and fill in the fields corresponding to Title, Abstract, and Keywords.

Indication of funding (If applicable)

Article Structure:

Articles should be presented as concisely as possible, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 pages for articles, and 5 to 15 pages for research notes, experience reports, and reviews, including text, tables, graphs, and bibliographic references, following the formatting described below.

On the first page of the text, the title should appear in bold, size 16, single spacing and centered, lowercase, respecting only the use of capital letters for the beginning of proper nouns;

Abstract followed by keywords in Portuguese; then, the title, abstract, and keywords in English, in addition to the title and abstract in a third language (French or Spanish).

The abstract should not exceed 250 words, size 11.

The following pages should contain the text and bibliographic references according to the current ABNT NBR 6022 and 6023 standards and 2023 amendments.

Graphs, tables, drawings, maps, and photographs with explanatory captions should be included in their respective places.

The titles of figures and charts should be presented at the top and the sources at the bottom, size 10, centered.

The text should be typed in A4 format (297 x 210 mm), using Word docx editor, Times New Roman 12 font, 1.5 spacing, observing the template margins.

Pages should be numbered sequentially in the lower right corner, starting the numbering on the article title page.

Bibliographic references should be listed in alphabetical order by the last name of the first author and according to current standards. Journal titles should be abbreviated according to the guidelines of the World List of Scientific Periodicals.

The authors' names should not be included in the manuscript. The submission form should include the full name, professional summary, address of the main author, and email address of all authors. Reviews of books published in the last ten years are recommended.

Articles requiring revisions, with requests for alliteration corrections, will have up to 30 days from the decision to submit the manuscript with the corrections. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the article being rejected and archived.

PLAGIARISM ANALYSIS

Articles submitted for evaluation will undergo a technical review for plagiarism analysis on the Plagium platform. The editorial team checks the data. In the case of plagiarism, even a single paragraph without proper citation is sufficient for the article to be returned to the author, indicating the problem. In cases of self-plagiarism, the maximum allowed is 10% of the text, or 50% when it is the result of a master's dissertation or doctoral thesis. Above this, the article is returned, with an indication of the problem. At this stage, the authors have the chance to make the necessary changes and resubmit the article for the journal's consideration.

Cases of plagiarism reported to the journal after the publication of articles will be analyzed by the Editorial Committee and, if the complaint is confirmed, the article will be immediately withdrawn from the journal. Penalties may also be applied to the authors.

We suggest that authors familiarize themselves with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines on ethical principles in scientific publication.
