A INFLUÊNCIA DE UM IMPACTO METEORÍTICO NA EVOLUÇÃO DA REDE DE DRENAGEM NO SETOR MERIDIONAL DO PLANALTO PAULISTANO-SP
Abstract
O entorno da cratera de Colônia, possível cratera de impacto terciária localizada no reverso da escarpa da Serra do Mar no Planalto Paulistano, caracteriza-se pela existência de uma drenagem grosso modo anelar e de algumas “anomalias de drenagem”. O rio Capivari apresenta a mais evidente “anomalia” da região: em seu alto curso, o rio segue na direção sul-norte, defletindo abruptamente para sudeste ao se aproximar da cratera. O presente estudo, que inclui a elaboração e análise de modelos digitais de elevação, fotointerpretação e trabalhos de campo, tem como objetivo investigar a relação entre o impacto meteorítico e possíveis modificações de trajetória na história do rio Capivari. Os dados até então apresentados sugerem que a inflexão do Capivari não se deve ao impacto, mas a uma captura fluvial, impulsionada pelo forte gradiente altimétrico proporcionado pela Serra do Mar.Downloads
