EVIDÊNCIAS DE NEOTECTÔNICA NA BACIA DO RIO VARGEM DO BRAÇO, SC

Abstract

Este artigo apresenta os resultados parciais dos levantamentos geológicos e geomorfológicos realizados na bacia do Rio Vargem do Braço, na Serra do Tabuleiro, SC, para verificar a ocorrência de atividade neotectônica. A pesquisa compreendeu uma revisão da bibliografia geológica e geomorfológica sobre a área de estudo, a análise e interpretação de cartas topográficas, mapas geológicos, fotografias aéreas e imagens de satélite para a identificação de feições anômalas indicadoras de movimentação tectônica recente. Em uma segunda fase, foram realizados levantamentos em sítios selecionados na fase anterior para exame visual e caracterização de feições geomórficas e estruturas resultantes da movimentação recente de falhas, privilegiando-se os depósitos aluviais e/ou coluviais de idade supostamente quaternária. São apresentados os resultados parciais da pesquisa, compreendendo feições geomórficas e seqüências sedimentares relacionadas a mudanças no nível de base, supostamente atribuíveis à ocorrência de neotectônica na área de estudo. Os resultados parciais são discutidos e comentados em relação às hipóteses concorrentes (eustasia e processos morfoclimáticos), no sentido de esboçar uma caracterização morfotectônica da área de estudo.
