ESTUDO DA MINERALOGIA , TEXTURA, DENSIDADE E COMPONENTES BIÓTICOS DAS AREIAS DE PRAIA E SUA RELAÇÃO COM A DINÂMICA PRAIAL DO LITORAL DO ESTADO DA PARAÍBA
Abstract
A área de estudo do presente trabalho compreende a zona costeira do Estado da Paraíba, com aproximadamente 140 km, no trecho compreendido entre as desembocaduras do rio Guajú, limite com o Rio Grande do Norte (Município de Mataraca) e a do Rio Goiana, limite com Pernambuco (Município de Pitimbú). O presente trabalho foi conduzido com o objetivo de determinar as características sedimentológicas da face praial. Foram escolhidas 46 amostras representativas, distribuídas por toda a área de estudo para identificar as classes granulométricas, as propriedades morfométricas dos grãos (arredondamento e esfericidade), textura superficial e composição dos sedimentos. Este estudo foi realizado com a ajuda de uma lupa trinocular sobre a amostra total e as frações de 1 e 2 .Posteriormente foi realizada a separação de 100 grãos de cada amostra selecionada para determinação da sua composição. Os resultados mostram que os grãos são constituídos principalmente de quartzo brilhante, com variadas proporções de bioclastos (de algas, fragmentos e partes inteiras de foraminíferos, gastrópodes, bivalves, etc.). São predominantemente subangulosos a subarredondados, com esfericidade alta nas frações mais grossas, e muito angulosos a angulosos nas frações mais finas.Downloads
