O COMBATE AO PROCESSO DE DESERTIFICAÇÃO COM O PLANTIO DA FAVELA EM ÁREAS DE PASTOREIO
Abstract
O presente trabalho teve como objetivo mostrar os resultados de uma pesquisa desenvolvida com o plantio da favela (Cnidosculus phyllacanthus), em meio à caatinga, em área de pastoreio onde a xerófita se encontra ausente. O estudo foi conduzido numa propriedade situada na zona rural do município de São José do Seridó/RN. O trabalho teve início em 2006 com a implantação do canteiro de mudas. Em fev./2007 foi feito o plantio de 38 unidades com uma média de 30 cm de altura total (AT). Enquanto teve inicio a estação úmida do corrente ano, foram irrigadas com cada uma recebendo quatro litros de água semanalmente. A avaliação realizada em maio de 2011, constatou-se que todas as mudas encontravam-se vivas e apresentando AT média de 1,94 m. A participação do proprietário da área foi decisiva pelo desvelo com as plantas. A capacidade de resistência as contingências climáticas e ao pastoreio são propriedades apresentadas incontestes.
