OS “FAROFEIROS” EM EXCURSÃO NAS LAGOAS DE ARITUBA, BOÁGUA E CARCARÁ (NÍSIA FLORESTA/RN): ANÁLISE DE UMA OUTRA FACE DO TURISMO POTIGUAR
Abstract
Este artigo traz uma abordagem geográfica sobre “uma outra face do turismo potiguar”, a face não planejada, negligenciada e segregada da atividade turística realizada no Estado do Rio Grande do Norte: o turismo enquanto prática social. Trata-se do estudo do excursionismo, uma prática de lazer turístico realizada por cidadãos das classes populares, denominados excursionistas, “turistas de um dia” ou, pejorativamente, de “farofeiros” pelo senso comum. O recorte espacial da pesquisa compreende as lagoas de Arituba, Boágua e Carcará (Nísia Floresta/RN), localizadas no litoral oriental potiguar, onde se observa aos domingos e feriados a chegada de centenas de excursionistas. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar como se dá a apropriação dessas lagoas por esses turistas de um dia, enfocando suas relações com outros agentes sociais envolvidos (outros turistas, comerciantes e poder público local). Com a pesquisa, constatou-se que o excursionismo é uma alternativa de lazer relevante para centenas de cidadãos que frequentam essas lagoas. Percebeu-se que eles utilizam práticas alternativas de consumo e burlam variadas estratégias de segregação que lhes são impostas nos territórios turísticos. Podendo-se, ainda, afirmar que a prática é percebida e defendida por muitos como sinônimo de pobreza e sujeira, o que acaba por contrariar a intencionalidade de agentes hegemônicos, resultando em constantes conflitos territoriais.
