INDICADORES BIOLÓGICOS DO NÚCLEO DE DESERTIFICAÇÃO DO SERIDÓ OCIDENTAL DA PARAIBA
Abstract
Considerando os limitados trabalhos sobre o comportamento da atividade microbiana, da mesofauna e macrofauna em área de Caatinga, o presente estudo objetivou avaliar a atividade e o comportamento da comunidade microbiana e as espécies que compõem a população da mesofauna e
macrofauna edáfica. O trabalho foi realizado em parcelas experimentais no período compreendido entre fevereiro/2006 e fevereiro/2007, nos municípios de Santa Luzia, São José do Sabugi e Várzea, localizados no semiárido da Paraíba, microrregião do Seridó Ocidental, compreendendo o Núcleo de Desertificação do Seridó paraibano. A atividade microbiana foi determinada bimestralmente através da liberação de CO2, de uma determinada área de solo, utilizando-se KOH 0,5N. Observou-se que a maior liberação de CO2 ocorreu no período da estação chuvosa e durante a noite, indicando período favorável à atividade dos microrganismos, e ocorrendo decréscimos na liberação de CO2 na estação seca. Para determinação da população de mesofauna do solo foram coletadas amostras de solo na profundidade de 0-15 cm, a extração da mesofauna foi feita através do método de Berlese-Tullgren modificado. O índice de Shannon e o índice de Pielou variaram de acordo com a época de coleta. Na coleta da macrofauna foram utilizadas armadilhas tipo PROVID, distribuídas aleatoriamente nas parcelas, totalizando 420 coletas, que também indicaram variabilidade em função da estação do ano e do período do dia. A análise dos dados mostrou a influência da estação do ano na atividade microbiana.
