LE DEVELOPPEMENT DU PORT DE MARSEILLE COMME ACTEUR MAJEUR DE LA CROISIERE EN MEDITERRANEE
Abstract
Avec un recul de 4 % au premier semestre du trafic de marchandises et un nombre de croisiéristes qui dépasse pour la première fois celui des lignes régulières vers la Corse et l’Afrique du Nord, l’année 2013 marque une rupture dans le développement du port de Marseille. Son positionnement en tant que port de croisière lui permet de s’affirmer au niveau national (d’une activité quasiment inexistante il y a 15 ans, il est devenu le premier port français) et à l’échelle de la Méditerranée en devenant un port quasi incontournable pour les compagnies maritimes. Il s’agit donc de comprendre les logiques à l’œuvre qui ont permis la croissance de cette activité dans un port marqué par un passé industriel au sein d’une ville qui n’est pas reconnue comme un site touristique majeur (comparé à Barcelone par exemple, premier port de croisière européen). Mais avant, il est nécessaire de comprendre dans quel environnement évolue le secteur des croisières dans le monde et en Méditerranée. Enfin, nous verrons que pour Marseille l’enjeu va au-delà du développement économique, les croisières et les changements qu’elle entraine deviennent un outil afin de redynamiser la ville et de requalifier des espaces jusqu’à présent détachés du reste de la ville.
