SÃO LUÍS PELA JANELA DO ÔNIBUS: ACESSIBILIDADE AO TRANSPORTE NA CIDADE DO AUTOMÓVEL
Abstract
O presente trabalho analisa o transporte público da capital maranhense tomando como aporte o ponto de vista do cadeirante, e como estes, têm se apropriado desse meio de transporte. De forma específica, faz-se uma análise a respeito da cidade e do transporte de São Luís do ponto de vista da pessoa com deficiência física. Com base na pesquisa qualitativa, as informações de depoimentos orais de cadeirantes foram obtidos, baseados em um roteiro semiestruturado, sendo gravadas as entrevistas e posteriormente transcritos. Das narrativas, temas como transporte público, cidade, deficiência física estiveram presentes. Partindo dessas premissas, trabalhamos na assertiva de que a efetivação de políticas públicas favorece a equidade e a qualidade de vida da população de uma forma inclusiva. Essa possibilidade estende-se, portanto, a minorias como a dos cadeirantes. Ressaltamos a noção clara do direito à cidade, mesmo compreendendo dificuldades na implementação de tais políticas.
