This text aims to present the evolution and appearing of epistemological currents used in research and texts developed in Human Geography. From bibliographic research, it is made a chronological presentation of the approaches used since the first geographical writings until the most recent decades. Initially a brief account was made of the geographical studies that originated the Traditional Geography, passing through the positivist norms imposed by the New Geography, and later following the perspectives that emerged in the period after the Second World War. Finally, we present the decolonialist way of understanding social events and, as a result, the way of analyzing the object of study. At the end of the text, a table is presented with a summary of the main currents of Human Geography
