The Brazilian semi-arid is a region that has a strong connection with climatic factors, from the time it was first occupied to the anthropogenic activities carried out today. The distribution of rainfall is of great importance to the life of the sertanejo to this day. With this in mind, the purpose of this article is to present a construct of the atmospheric systems operating in the Semi-Arid Domain of the Caatinga (DSC), demonstrating their particularities in space and time, within a regional context of semi-aridity. These systems are presented at different scales of action, from macro-scale systems (synoptic scale) to mesoscale systems, reaching the micro-scale and differentiations in the landscape. It also highlights the temporal configuration of rainfall and its intra-annual and inter-annual variability. The ultimate goal is to recognize the particularities and internal variations of the semi-arid climate present in the study area.
