AGRICULTURA DE BASE AGROECOLÓGICA COMO VIABILIDADE PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO RURAL SUSTENTÁVEL: O PROCESSO DE ORGANIZAÇÃO DE AGRICULTORES FAMILIARES PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DE CULTIVOS DENTRO DOS PRINCÍPIOS AGROECOLÓGICOS
Abstract
O Estado de Pernambuco é marcado desde o período colonial pela monocultura da cana-de-açúcar, pelo latifúndio, pela exploração e expropriação do trabalhador rural e pelos graves impactos sócioambientais daí decorrentes. Em um cenário mais recente, o estado tornou-se foco da luta pela reforma agrária, sendo alvo dos vários movimentos em prol da distribuição mais igualitária da terra. Atualmente, muitos assentamentos estão aderindo a práticas alternativas de cultivo como meio de fortalecimento da produção familiar e promoção da qualidade ambiental no meio rural. Nessa perspectiva, procura-se analisar até que ponto as novas práticas agrícolas estariam contribuindo para a conservação do meio ambiente no Assentamento Chico Mendes em Pombos – Pernambuco.
