A CRONOLOGIA DA EVOLUÇÃO DA PAISAGEM NO CONTEXTO DOS AVANÇOS DAS GEOCIÊNCIAS E A GEOMORFOLOGIA TECTÔNICA DA MARGEM CONTINENTAL DO SUDESTE DO BRASIL

A partir de observações sobre o contexto de evolução das Geociências e do desenvolvimento de métodos de quantificação para a cronologia da evolução da paisagem ao longo de escala de tempo longa, o presente artigo, baseado na palestra ministrada no Simpósio Nacional de Geomorfologia em 2018, tem o objetivo de discutir a evolução da margem continental do Sudeste de Brasil a partir da abordagem da Geomorfologia Tectônica, apresentando e destacando a contribuição da termocronologia de baixa temperatura nos estudos sobre processos superficiais, soerguimento, denudação. A evolução da área indica uma combinação de episódios que se alternaram e/ou atuaram em conjunto em determinados períodos, com eventos de reativação mais antigos, combinados com os mais recentes, e que apresentam os seus remanescentes na paisagem (serras da Mantiqueira e do Mar e os grábens e bacias sedimentares) e nos depósitos correlativos nas bacias sedimentares marginais e intracontinentais.
