Water quality assessment of water sources in the state of Pernambuco by characterization of physical-chemical parameters

Over time, the need efficient monitoring of water quality due to increasing demand has led to the creation of agencies and regulatory agencies, as well as the development of research to advise control and management activities. Monitoring water quality can be challenging as the impact of land on flow dynamics is particularly severe in urbanized areas. The objective of this work was to select more relevant parameters for the monitoring of three sources located in the Mesoregions of Mata, Agreste and São Francisco Pernambucano. The evaluation was carried out from monthly data of eighteen physical and chemical parameters made available by Pernambucana Sanitation Company, which holds the concession of public basic sanitation services in the State of Pernambuco. The data were statistically evaluated using univariate and multivariate analyzes and in relation to the resolution of CONAMA nº 357/2005. The Carpina dam presented the most critical levels of the physicochemical parameters evaluated, according to the data obtained for the year 2017. The monitoring of the water quality through physical-chemical parameters in the Mesoregions of the State of Pernambuco is of great relevance for the management of water resources, taking into account the specificities of each river basin and corresponding water source.References
