Abstract

RESUMO O Estado de Goiás abriga uma das maiores porções nucleares contínuas de Cerrado Brasileiro e também uma das mais degradadas. Geógrafos, biólogos e outros pesquisadores dedicados ao tema costumam fazer coincidir a degradação do Cerrado com a Revolução Verde, a expansão das lavouras monocultoras e o adensamento populacional, a partir da década de 1970. Por isso, o presente estudo objetiva caracterizar o estado de conservação das áreas de preservação permanentes dos municípios de Jataí e Rio Verde situados no Sudoeste Goiano e demonstrar os principais usos do solo dessas áreas via uso de geoprocessamento.
