Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the socioenvironmental impacts existing in the area of environmental protection of Maracanã in São Luís, MA, based on the influence of the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program (Band 1) housing projects installed on it. The housing developments installed are the residential Amendoeiras, Santo Antônio and Morada do Sol, totaling 4496 units. In order to carry out this analysis, bibliographical surveys and field surveys were conducted with semi-structured interviews with the population residing in and around the condominiums as photographic records of the environment. It was possible to identify impacts derived mainly from anthropic pressure on water bodies, soils and vegetation, increased insecurity, reduced population mobility due to the poor circulation structure in spite of the few actions by the public power to mitigate these impacts.

Licenciado em História e Geógrafo pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão (UFMA). Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Geociências e do Programa de Pós Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal do Maranhão (UFMA).
