PRODUÇÃO DO ESPAÇO URBANO E EXPANSÃO DOS EMPREENDIMENTOS HORIZONTAIS: ANÁLISE DE MONTES CLAROS/MG APÓS A DÉCADA DE 2000
Abstract
Os estudos sobre as cidades médias brasileiras se intensificaram a partir da década de 1980, quando torna-se cada vez mais relevante compreender os papéis econômicos, sociais e políticos que estes espaços desempenham no Brasil, e, com isso, na rede urbana nacional. Este artigo analisa a produção do espaço urbano na cidade média de Montes Claros/MG, após a década de 2000, a partir da expansão dos condomínios horizontais e dos loteamentos fechados. O presente artigo destaca Montes Claros/MG no contexto das cidades médias brasileiras. Trata-se de uma cidade média que, dentre outras transformações, passa por uma nova dinâmica imobiliária, processo intensificado no final do século XX, representando uma transformação no contexto urbano em sua estrutura social, econômica, política e também cultural. Montes Claros vivencia uma fase crescente de novos padrões de consumo imobiliário, quer seja com a finalidade de moradia, negócios ou ambos. A expansão urbana dessa cidade média reflete o seu atual momento econômico, o que impacta os diversos setores da economia, principalmente o terciário. Além dos impactos na estrutura social e econômica dessa cidade média a expansão urbana horizontal em Montes Claros demonstra profundas transformações na paisagem urbana, na distribuição de classes e nas alterações no valor e uso do solo urbano seguindo a lógica capitalista imobiliária.
