A PERSPECTIVA GEOGRÁFICA DO ANTROPOCENO
Abstract
O termo Antropoceno é cada vez mais utilizado para descrever a época geológica em que nós vivemos no presente. O termo é um neologismo criado a partir de uma combinação do prefixo anthropo (homem) e do sufixo ceno (o mais novo). O termo Antropoceno sugere que a Terra já deixou sua época geológica recente, referente ao último estado interglacial chamado Holoceno. As atividades humanas tornaram-se tão generalizadas e profundas que podem se igualar as grandes forças da Natureza. A marca humana sobre natureza é perceptível em escalas locais, regionais, e mesmo continentais. Essa marca significativa é uma característica da sociedade industrial, porque os seres humanos pré-industriais não tinham a capacidade tecnológica ou organizacional para igualar ou dominar as grandes forças da natureza. O impacto do Antropoceno pode ser observado nos processos geológicos e geomorfológicos onde o Homem é o principal agente geológico-geomorfólogico. A principal motivação do presente artigo é a compreensão da relação sociedade-natureza no contexto do Antropoceno, através de uma perspectiva geográfica e entender o papel do homem moderno como o principal agente geográfico, geológico e geomorfológico diferenciado na produção de uma nova natureza.Downloads
