A CLIMATOLOGIA APLICADA EM PORTUGAL – UMA HERANÇA TAMBÉM DO PROFESSOR CARLOS AUGUSTO DE FIGUEIREDO MONTEIRO
Abstract
Em 6 de Abril de 1983, estava o professor Carlos Augusto de Figueiredo Monteiro (CAFM), segundo a biografia publicada, como professor visitante na Universidade de Tsukuba no Japão, assinei o meu primeiro contrato como docente no então Instituto de Geografia da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto. Tinha terminado a minha licenciatura em Junho de 1982 com um bom desempenho e fui desafiada a concorrer a um dos lugares de assistente estagiário que seriam abertos na FLUP.Contudo, o ano de 1982 foi bastante conturbado em Portugal. Greves laborais, incidentes com mortes nas manifestações do dia 1º de Maio, atentados bombistas, um atentado contra o Papa João Paulo II em Fátima, a Revisão Constitucional, as eleições autárquicas, a demissão do Primeiro Ministro Pinto Balsemão, etc. O ano seguinte, 1983, iniciou-se com uma profunda crise económica e com a entrada do FMI em Portugal. Por tudo isto, o repto que me foi lançado, e que aceitei em 1982, só se concretizou em Abril de 1983. Neste artigo está um relatro dna herança do conhecimento do professor Carlos Augusto Monteiro na climatologia palicada em Portugal.
