O ESPAÇO PERIURBANO ENTRE CAMPINA GRANDE E LAGOA SECA (BRASIL): USO DO SOLO E DISTINÇÕES SOCIOCULTURAIS

Abstract

O artigo tem por finalidade discutir a formação do espaço periurbano entre as cidades de Campina Grande e de Lagoa Seca – Paraíba/Brasil, destacando as novas formas de uso do solo que estabelecem diversas relações socioeconômicas e culturais entre a população que ali reside e circula. As mudanças e permanências ocorridas na área em questão se deram a partir da segunda metade da década de 1990, com a territorialização de condomínios horizontais, pousadas, loteamentos populares e restaurantes, mas que ainda estão entremeados à agricultura de caráter familiar, comércio de produtos artesanais, plantas para ornamentação, etc. Assim, busca-se entender, mediante uma leitura histórica e geográfica, as características socioespaciais da área que se mostram relevantes para a formação de uma zona periurbana nessa porção do território paraibano.
