Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the socio-environmental conditions and the different types of soil that make up the Celso Lúcio Ferreira da Silva Settlement area, in the municipality of Uberlândia, State of Minas Gerais. Field work carried out on site, no irregularities were identified in relation to the disposal of waste in the lot. There is an enclosure of the Legal Reserve and Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs). This research made it possible to identify the daily life of a group of people who live, work and make a living for their families from the settlement itself. Agroecological practices provide revitalization of the soil with regard to its management. Environmental Education is a mediator of the subjects' appropriation of the qualities and capacities necessary for responsible transforming action in the face of the environment in which they live.
