Alternation pedagogy and sustainable development
expereiences in agricultural family schools in Bahia

In this article, we present the experience of three Agricultural Family Schools (Angical, Santana, Boquira), resulting from the Master's dissertation in Social and Human Sciences at the Federal University of Western Bahia (PPGCHS/UFOB). The aim was to analyze the role of Alternation Pedagogy in the education of rural youth and in the sustainable development of their communities within the context of their lived experiences. Employing a qualitative approach, encompassing both bibliographic and field research, including the administration of questionnaires to monitors, alternates, former alternates, and alternate parents, it was possible to observe that alternates emerge as key actors in the sustainable local development process through the reinforcement of social capital in their communities.
