Abstract

The objective of this article is to verify if the leaving profile established by the UNESC accounting sciences course meets the expectations of the students and the characteristics of the accountants in the region. This article is a descriptive study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach made through documental analysis of the Political Pedagogical Project of the course and the application of a questionnaire with the students and accountants associated with the Accountant Union of Criciúma and Carbonaceous Region. The results show that: the predominant gender in the professional fields is male, whilst in the academy it is female; the students and professionals show interest in continual training in the managerial and taxation areas; the most relevant technical skill is the knowledge of the operational area. For those who were researched dedication is the most important attitude for the exercise of this profession. It was concluded that the leaving profile established by the course which was investigated is similar to the expectations of the students and the characteristics of the accountants in the region.
